Headliner Care
A headliner is fabric glued to a foam board. Too much liquid or pressure and the glue lets go — and a sagging headliner can’t be fixed with a towel.
What you’ll need
- All-purpose cleaner (F35), light dilution
- Clean white microfiber towels
- Very soft brush
- Vacuum with a soft brush tool
- Safety glasses and 5-mil nitrile gloves
Before you start
- Never spray anything directly on the headliner. Spray the towel.
- No extractor, no steamer, no scrubbing on a headliner.
- Curtain airbags run along the roof edges. Don’t pull or push on the trim.
- Already sagging or stained? Photograph it and tell your manager before you touch it.
Cleaning steps
- Vacuum gently with the soft brush tool.
- Spray all-purpose cleaner (F35) onto a towel — damp, not wet.
- Blot the spot, working from the outside in.
- Wipe lightly in one direction. No circles, no pressure.
- Blot dry with a clean, dry towel.
- Still there? Repeat lightly. Do not press harder.
Finish steps
- Let it air dry. No heat gun.
- Lightly brush the nap in one direction with a dry towel.
- No dressing of any kind on the headliner.
Quality check
- No water rings
- No bubbles, sagging or loose fabric
- Fabric looks even all the way across
